Homecoming is that time of year when you put everything aside, reminisce, and fellowship at Your Home Away From Home…Your HBCU! I had the pleasure to be #PoweredByPurpose with The Home Depot Retool Your School and capture my homecoming experience at my home, Bowie State University & with dope students/ alumni at Clark Atlanta University. I loved being back at my HBCU, Bowie State University to capture my experience with Greek Life, as a Proud member of the Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. It was a warm feeling being back on the yard with the new Neos who keep the legacy going & grilling with older brothers whose shoulders we stand on. I also got to showcase the homecoming energy of the Bowie SOS band, yelling chants with Golden Girl Cheerleaders, & Goldie and Butch Mascots. We all know there is no homecoming without the band & the Bowie Bold Family collectively shouting, “Aye Aye Aye Ayeee Bowieeee” across campus & at the Football game. And speaking of football I captured & highlighted the beautiful BullDog Stadium with Coach Kyle Jackson (Head Football Coach) & a few players as they prepared for the Big Game. But besides capturing Bowie’s homecoming experience, I also got to spotlight “Bowie Fashion ”. I had Bowie Modeling teams (Models Inc & Kush Models) & a few students explain their Bowie Fashion as they walk the campus with Boldness & Style! While doing that, I got to wear some dope Bowie gear from 2 fashion HBCU entrepreneurs @desirebysaint & @_jrenee.designs_ .

Next, I traveled down to Clark Atlanta University to speak with prideful alumni & students on the importance of alum giving & coming back to support their HBCUs. Also, giving us words that describe the homecoming experience at their University. It was beautiful to speak and hear from a diverse number of generations of people who call Clark Atlanta their HOME! I mean from the words of wisdom, touch down reactions of the fans, & chants I got to feel that, “C C C C, A A A A, U U U U,” CAU ENERGY!! I am blessed to have experienced an HBCU & create some memorable content for this Home Depot Retool Your School campaign! Since 2009, the Retool Your School Program has provided over $9.2 million in campus improvement grants across nearly 70% of HBCUs to allow schools to make sustainable improvements to their campuses.
