Building Brighter Futures for HBCU Campuses, One Project at a Time

From Vision to Reality

At The Home Depot, we believe that investing in HBCU infrastructure is investing in the future. Through the Retool Your School program, we’ve seen campuses revitalized, facilities upgraded and most importantly, students empowered to create spaces that inspire and support their academic journeys. This isn’t just about a fresh coat of paint – we’re talking about game-changing renovations that leveled up the entire student experience.

“HBCUs are often overlooked and underfunded, and programs like these help us get funding to do things that we need on our campuses. So, for Home Depot and the Retool Your School program to come down here and help us, It makes us feel very thankful. They’re just a big blessing to us here at Alcorn.”

Why These Wins Matter

HBCUs have a long history of providing quality education and opportunities to students who have often been overlooked. Retool Your School is proud to support this legacy by helping HBCUs create spaces that foster academic excellence and empower the next generation of leaders. Victoria Jordan’s project is another great example that showcases how a little help can build a thriving campus environment.

Victoria C. Jordan, ’25, Biology & Chemistry
South Carolina State University

“As a double major, I can easily get stressed out with class and other activities and I genuinely just look forward to taking a break, maybe a 10-minute, 30-minute break in the zen dens to gather my mind and mental health so I’m able to succeed in the classroom. [I use] these relaxation spaces so that I’m able to reground myself in my studies. Whether I’m having a hard or stressful day, I’ll be able to go to the zen dens to be able to refocus my overall goal.”
