Home, to me, is a place where I can express my creativity, feel a sense of belonging, comfort, and love. It is a space where I can relax, unwind, and create lasting memories.
My HBCU has become a home away from home in several ways. From the sense of community, the nurturing environment and being surrounded by individuals who share similar experiences, backgrounds, and aspirations creates a strong bond and a feeling of belonging. The HBCU community becomes a support system, providing encouragement, motivation, and a sense of unity.
I also can’t forget about the traditions, culture, and history of my HBCU that contribute to the feeling of home. HBCUs have a rich legacy of producing successful individuals who have made significant contributions to society and a part of this legacy feels like I am a part of something bigger than myself. With that sense of belonging making my HBCU feel like a home away from home.
Also, thanks to Home Depot for pouring into HBCUs and students like me. I really appreciate you guys for making me a plant dad. This experience has been so fulfilling and rewarding. Being able to watch my green babies thrive under my care has been amazing and overall adding plants to my space has made it feel more like home, making it easier to achieve my goals this semester!
