The Retool Your School program named three HBCU school administrators as the inaugural class of Legacy Honorees on April 11 in Atlanta, Georgia at the 2023 Retool Your School Awards Celebration.
The honorees were Alfonzye Chisholm Jr., Director, Office of Sustainability at Howard University; Sean Lyn, Director of Alumni Affairs at Bethune-Cookman University; and Dr. Schenika Harrison, Special Projects & Title III Director for the Office of the President at Tougaloo College.
Tiffany Mitsui, Sr. Manager of Multicultural Marketing at The Home Depot, stated, “There are so many unsung heroes behind the scenes that make [Retool Your School] possible, and we want to bring a few to your attention and honor them as a Retool Your School Legacy Honoree.”
The honorees were selected by a panel of judges based on the impact, community building and legacy of their work with the program over multiple years. From updates to quads, to gardens, to water bottle filling stations, bus shelters and even dorms, the honorees were champions and cheerleaders who marshalled the power of the Campus Improvement Grant program to make an indelible mark on their campus.
Mitsui highlighted that schools said their success with the program was in large part a credit to the honorees and couldn’t have happened without them.
“That’s quite the legacy and deserving of recognition,” said Mitsui, before presenting each honoree with an award.
Congrats to Alfonzye Chisholm Jr., Dr. Schenika Harrison and Sean Lyn on receiving this honor.
